Single Shelf Firing Services

from $32.00

Guidelines for work to be fired:

  • The max height for items in a Single Shelf firing is 8” tall.

  • Kiln shelves are a 15” hexagon shape. However, the kiln posts take up space. You can have one larger item at the top layer, but other lower layers must be no wider than 11” in diameter.

  • Irregular/large items will require a full kiln booking. If you’re not sure, ask me before your pay the fee!

  • I have a limited number of stilts and cannot guarantee availability. If you have specific requirements for stilting, please bring your own.

  • Shared firings are always cone 04 for bisque and cone 5 for glaze firings. You may request any firing temperature up to cone 10 if you book a full-kiln firing.

How it works:

All firing is first-come, first-served. Wait time may be up to 2 weeks or more for your firing to be completed, depending on the amount, how dry your pieces are at drop-off, and what is in line already.  Half Kiln and Shelf Loads may have to wait even longer for a full kiln to run a firing.

You must arrange a time for drop off and pick-up from my Bernal Heights studio.

Once you pay for firing, I will reach out to schedule drop-off at my Bernal Heights studio. All items must be contained in a box so I can move the work through my firing system.Your items will be loaded directly into the kiln from your box and back into your box from the kiln. If you would like your items in paper you must bring it with you at pick-up.

Once fired, I will call you for pickup. Please collect your work as soon as possible, as space is limited.

Terms & Conditions:

  • Payment is due prior to firing. You may cancel your firing at any time before you drop off your work. Once dropped off, there are no refunds.

  • I am not responsible for fired results or damage of any kind.

  • I reserve the right to refuse to fire any work or any customers.

  • Customer assumes full responsibility for the replacement/repair of any equipment damaged during firing, such as glaze running onto shelves if you don’t correctly wipe the bottom of your work.

  • WORK LEFT LONGER THAN 30 DAYS after firing will be discarded.

I will not accept:

  • Flammable or melt-able materials inside clay (e.g. paper clay, metal, decals)

  • Glazed greenware

  • Pieces that may explode during firing (e.g. hollow forms with no air hole, wet greenware)

  • Pieces that contain questionable materials (e.g. unknown clay or glaze maturing temperature)
